All Sun Microsystems parts are known
by at least two numbers, the X-Option number
and the Part number. The best way to find out what part you have is the BarCode.
Every part that Sun Microsystems sells has a Sun bar-code. This bar-code has
both the part number and serial number of the part. (The X-Option number
is not located on the part.) Here is a sample Sun Barcode:
An X-Option may have multiple part numbers and a part number
may have multiple X-Option numbers associated with it.

Notes:
- DIMMs are required on both the Riser Board and the System Board.
- Every populated bank must contain four same-size DIMMs. Four same-size DIMMs are a quad.
- To activate 2-way interleaving, quads must be installed in banks 0 and 1, which are non-adjacent banks.
(A third quad may be installed in either remaining bank, but that will disable interleaving.)
- To activate 4-way interleaving, all four banks must be populated with quads.
- Each bank addresses 1GB of memory.
- 64MB DIMM 501-2480 and 128MB DIMM 501-3136 are not supported.
- 16MB and 32MB DIMMs are not sold for the Ultra 80 System Board.
- The 501-5936 shipped in the Enterprise 420R. It is not supported in the Ultra 80.
